Sompting Waste Management Site, Halewick Lane- Planning application for WSCC battery storage
project

West Sussex County Council has recently submitted a planning application to the South Downs
National Park to remove the derelict buildings from the site, improve the surroundings and use the
area to locate a number of large batteries contained in single-storey containers.

The planning authority has now validated application and the consultation period is underway. A
decision date has been set as April 3rd. To ensure residents are aware of the project and have the
opportunity to ask questions about the planning application, a number of information drop-in
sessions have been arranged in conjunction with Sompting Parish Council and the Sompting Big
Local.

The following dates and venues are currently scheduled:

• Wednesday 6th February (2pm-4pm), Sompting Big Local
• Friday 8th February (11am-1pm), Sompting Big Local
• Tuesday 12th February- 2pm- 4pm, Sompting Parish Council, Harriet Johnson Centre
• Wed 27th February- 6.30pm – 8.30pm, Sompting Parish Council, Harriet Johnson Centre

Further information drop-ins can be arranged if there is a demand from the local community. Please
email the County Council’s project team at wastes.servicescontracts@westsussex.gov.uk

if you have any queries around the project.
