Parish Council Election 2nd May 2024

On the 2nd May this year there will be Elections to choose new Parish Councillors in Sompting.

Would you like to find out more about becoming a Parish Councillor?

There are very few restrictions on applying and no previous experience or qualifications are required to serve as a Parish Councillor, just an interest in helping our residents by attending meetings and working with other Councillors to help build our community. Our focus is on making improvements in the Parish that will help our residents and businesses enjoy living and working in Sompting.

Harriet Johnson Centre, 
Loose Lane, Sompting

Have you thought of booking a room in the Harriet Johnson Centre to celebrate a Birthday, Christening, Baby Shower, Wedding Reception ? Are you arranging a Meeting, Workshop or Exhibition ? Are you looking for somewhere to hold Classes or Group Sessions ? We have rooms available here for you to book (subject to availability). We have some equipment for hire and there are some kitchen facilities. There is disabled access and parking is also available. Rooms are available 7 days a week between 8am and 10.30pm. On Saturdays, the time can be extended until 11pm. Discounts are available to Sompting residents.  Please ring Simone Williams, the Centre Manager if you wish to enquire, or view the premises, or make a booking on   01903 208824 or

Parish Council Grants Available

Sompting Parish Council is allowed to set aside a certain amount of money each year to be able to offer grants to voluntary groups and charitable organisations, but not to individuals.  We are pleased to have been able to help a number of groups and organisations each year in Sompting.

If you are interested, you will need to complete a grant application form and return it together with the required financial and other information and be able to demonstrate that the grant, if agreed, will benefit Sompting or its residents in some way.

Foodbank

Sompting Foodbank is open every Tuesday morning between 10am and 11.30am at the Harriet Johnson Centre, Loose Lane, Sompting for collections and donations. If you need help with food please ring 07719 196735.

An alternative drop off point for donations is the Co-op in Test Road.

Coffee Morning

Sompting Community Church runs the Connect coffee shop on a Tuesday morning at the Harriet Johnson Centre, Loose Lane, Sompting from 9:30am to 12 noon.

It is open to everyone in the local Community. We have lots of friendly people that would like to meet you. Our refreshments are all free.
