ABOUT THE PARISH COUNCIL

Sompting Parish Council is active in improving and maintaining facilities and the general environment for the community of Sompting. This is achieved by funding projects and working with existing providers relating to matters such as highways, recreational and leisure facilities, youth facilities and meeting the needs of the elderly.

The council has a tree planting initiative, which has seen many new trees planted in the grass verges and local downland, and has recently commissioned a planter on the corner of Busticle Lane and Cokeham Road near the village sign.

Sompting Parish Council meets on the second Wednesday of every month, except for August, at 7:30pm in Sompting Community Centre. The Leisure & Amenities Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month, execpt for August, at 8.00pm in Sompting Community Centre.

Sompting Parish Council does not own any land and is not responsible for any public open spaces or community buildings, although it does own eight of the bus shelters around the Parish.

The Parish Council employs only one person - the Parish Clerk.
